O Primeiro IBM Tutorial Day foi realizado na FEMA\Assis-SP no dia 01 de dezembro de 2007 das 8:30 as 12 horas. No evento, os 5 participantes do programa de orientação acadêmica IBM, apresentaram o desenvolvimento de um CRUD em Java utilizando JPA + JSF. Foram apresentados/instalados/configurados, o DB2 e o WAS CE (WebSphere Aplication Server Community Edition). O RSA (Rational Software Architect) foi apresentado.

Der Branchenverband Bitkom http://www.bitkom.de setzt vor dem IT-Gipfel von Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel am 10. Dezember in Hannover nach Meinung von Michael Müller, Wirtschaftssenator des Bundesverbandes mittelständische Wirtschaft (BVMW) http://www.bvmw.de und Geschäftsführer des IT-Dienstleisters a&o http://www.aogroup.de, die falschen Akzente: „Es ist völlig sinnlos, einen Bundesbeauftragten für IT-Fragen oder Bundes-CIO zu schaffen. So viel Kompetenzen kann man dieser Position gar nicht verschaffen, um das IT-Management der Bundesverwaltung auf Vordermann zu bringen und die Abstimmungen mit den Ländern zu verbessern. Auch der Kompromissvorschlag von Merkel, ein Gremium unter Führung von Innenstaatssekretär Hans Bernhard Beus einzusetzen, ist reine Placebo-Politik. Beus war verantwortlich für die eGovernment-Initiative ‚BundOnline 2005’ http://www.staat-modern.de und dies bemerkenswert erfolglos. Da sind fast nur Totgeburten herausgekommen“, kritisiert Mittelständler Müller.  Dies beruhe nicht auf der Unfähigkeit der einzelnen Ministerien, die Projekte sinnvoll zu planen und umzusetzen, sondern an der bürokratischen Verwaltung. Die notwendige Kooperation der Ministerien scheitere nach Auffassung von Müller an dem Gezerre um Zuständigkeiten, Kompetenzgerangel oder schlichtweg an lethargischen Oberamtsräten: „Da braucht man sich nur das Verteidigungsministerium anschauen. Die schreiben seit Jahren lieber wöchentlich lange Berichte, warum sie etwas nicht können, statt es einfach zu tun. Die Hausleitungen der Ministerien sind dabei erstaunlich leidenschaftslos, woran auch ein Bundes-CIO nichts ändern würde. Die Ressorts lassen sich nicht gerne etwas von einem anderen Haus sagen. Das nennt man dann Ressortbefindlichkeit. Und die Hausleitungen kümmern sich um das Tagesgeschäft, wenig um die Informationstechnik“.  Um die Ressorts zu sinnvollen Kooperationen zu bewegen, seien in der Vergangenheit Kabinettsbeschlüsse erlassen worden, die in den wenigsten Fällen tatsächlich umgesetzt wurden. „Am grünen Kabinettstisch haben die Damen und Herren so lange an den Vorlagen herumgefingert, bis jeder Beschluss so viele Schlupflöcher geboten hat, dass sich letztlich keiner daran halten musste“, so Müller. Beispiel für die Schlupflochformulierungen. „Das Projekt ist einzuführen, es sei denn wirtschaftliche, technische oder organisatorische Gründe sprechen dagegen“. Fragwürdig sei dabei die Rolle von McKinsey http://www.mckinsey.de als Haus- und Hofberater des Bundes.  „Für schrecklich viel Geld saßen und sitzen die teuren Nadelstreifenjungs im Bundesinnenministerium und jedes BundOnline-Projekt hat einen eigenen McKinsey-Berater. Legitime Frage: was machen die denn da, dass es eine zweite Studie braucht, um vorzuschlagen, einen Bundes-CIO zu installieren? Attestieren die sich nicht ihr eigenes Versagen“, fragt sich Müller.  Für den IT-Personalexperten Udo Nadolski, Geschäftsführer von Harvey Nash http://www.harveynash.com/de, ist es nicht nachvollziehbar, dass der Bund immer noch auf die großen Beratungsfirmen setzt: „Während Strategieberater auf junge ‚unbelastete’ Studienabgänger mit Topabschlüssen setzen, arbeiten praxisbezogene Beratungsfirmen bewusst mit älteren Consultants. Deren langjährige Industrieerfahrung führt dazu, dass sie den Kunden keine Standardpräsentationen liefern, sondern messbare Ergebnisse, für die sie auch gerade stehen. Das kann ein 30jähriger, der drei Jahre im Beruf ist, in der Regel nicht leisten. Da fehlt ganz einfach die Lebenserfahrung“, betont Nadolski. Die Politik habe aus den vielen gescheiterten IT-Großprojekten nichts gelernt.  Um eine ordentliche IT-Strategie des Bundes zu etablieren, müsse man die Projektverantwortlichen der einzelnen Häuser stärken. „Dazu gehören ressortübergreifende Kompetenzen. Und diese können nur durch einen entsprechenden Kabinettsbeschluss auf den Weg gebracht werden, der ohne Schlupflöcher verpflichtend ist. So und nicht anders funktioniert Verwaltung. All dies weiß die Kanzlerin - der Bundes-CIO ist eine Lutschpastille“, resümiert der IT-Fachmann Müller.

Ja då har jag alltså köpt ännu en dator.. eller rättare sagt, jag har köpt en annan dator. Fick tipset av en arbetskamrat att kolla på inet.se. Jag tog klivet in i cyberrymden och insåg att: "Vafan? Här är ju exakt samma delar som jag beställde från datorbutiken.com fast till tusen kronor lägre pris!"

Jag började överlägga med min kamrat och kom fram till att det var värt'et, så jag avbeställde de gamla delarna och kastade iväg en ny order blixtfort.
Jag fick dessutom en bra mycket snyggare burk nu också! Sweet! Nu är det bara att hoppas på att delarna kommer tills imorgon så jag kan leka med dem i helgen.

Givetvis så kommer det dyka upp någon form av recension på mina delar i framtiden. Jag måste bara hårdköra dem först.

W Sieci pojawił się kolejny polski serwis przeznaczony dla osób poszukujących pracy oraz pracodawców w branży IT. FintIT, bo o tym serwisie tu mowa umożliwia bezpłatne dodawanie ogłoszeń ofert pracy. Autorzy witryny posortowali jej dzieląc na takie kategorie jak Freelance, pełny etat oraz praktyki oraz działy Design, Development i E-Commerce. Na razie, pomimo iż możliwości FintIT nie są rozbudowane, serwis robi dobre wrażenie; najwyraźniej więc mamy nowego liczącego się gracz w kategorii stron Praca IT. ;)

Today, I woke up to an interesting headline: Microsoft's Volta project has been released through Microsoft Live Labs. I am not exactly sure of the details of how Volta works but early impressions are that it is fundamentally Microsoft's response to GWT (Google Web Toolkit); never mind the fact that Microsoft seems to be doing quite a bit of this responding business. So briefly, with Volta you design your applications as you would any desktop application (single tier) and when your code & design wizardry is done you then invoke Volta to turn your application into a web application which is usually multi-tier with each tier running on a different machine or at the very least a different process.

The Context

Developing web application involves the comprehension and appreciation of a number of technologies since web application span multiple runtimes, each with its own idiosyncrasies which typically make sense in each context. A web application stores data in a database which is more likely to be a relational database and as such SQL is the default language used in the database layer. On the presentation layer, the web application interacts with the end user through a browser which typically understands JavaScript, CSS, HTML and so many others through plugins. The browser also makes use of XML and JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) for its data. Finally, in between the database and the browser sees the application tier that binds the other two tiers together; as you may already be guess, this lay runs on the web server and includes Java, PHP, Python, C#, VB.NET, Ruby etc.

Microsoft's .NET framework is increasing showing up just about everywhere though it is still fundamentally attached to the Windows OS. There is SQLCLR which is embedded into Microsoft SQL Server (from version SQL Server 2005 going forward). On the middle tier (application layer) there is the normal CLR and Silverlight covers the presentation layer. Recent extensions to the .NET programming languages in form of LINQ for C# 3.0 and VB.NET 9.0 introduced a standardized query syntax to enable uniform expression of queries across disparate data sources. Through the use of annotations, LINQ - SQL and LINQ - Entities enables CLR supported rewrite of code from the LINQ compliant programming languages to the appropriate data model in each context.

How it is

Volta works on Microsoft Intermediate Language (MSIL) code and as such it assumes ubiquity of the .NET framework, at least during the development stage; MSIL is the same stuff that .NET compliant programming languages compile to. As you may be aware, Microsoft's CLR includes a wealth of meta data that can be used for various purposes by tools that understand the meta data. So Volta makes use of the meta data that is compiled into the MSIL code to make a multi-tier application out of a single tier application. Volta leverages the rich meta data to achieve refactoring, retargetting and remodulating.

Refactoring is central to turning single tier code to multi-tier, distributed code as illustrated in the diagram below. The split of the architecture is directed through use annotations on the original single-tier code. So essentially Volta rewrites your application using directions that you provide through annotations effectively providing a translation of your .NET compliant code to JavaScript. Volta achieves its objectives through automation and this also presents a huge opportunity to dynamically target the code that Volta produces to the appropriate platform and runtime hence optimizing it as much as possible. This enables Volta to target platforms but also increases the number of possible tiers that an application can be split into.

Volta hides as many browser-specific differences as possible, but still allows developers to leverage the unique capabilities of particular browsers. Instead of targeting solely the intersection of browser capabilities, Volta targets the entire union, but makes the intersection browser-agnostic. This is browser remodulating. From the developer’s point of view Volta attenuates browser differences. But what about testing and debugging? Volta and the Visual-Studio integration supports debugging and testing of applications with full transparency. Visual Studio’s Solution Platform dropdown lets us choose the specific browser we want for a testing/debugging session. This allows us to see how each browser renders the HTML.
